Ambry Celebrates 25 Years
Celebrate Our Milestones with Us
1999
Ambry Genetics founded
Ambry Genetics was founded on three main principles: driven by science, pursuing the end of disease, and providing the best quality service.
2001
First to offer full gene sequencing
When Ambry was founded, they were the first to offer a CFTR test for cystic fibrosis. In 2001, this offering was expanded to full gene sequencing, which identifies CF-causing genotypes in ~99% of individuals with CF, which may be missed by other technologies.
2010
First Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS)
Ambry launched the first commercial NGS panel in 2010 and the first NGS hereditary cancer panel in 2012.
2011
First to offer clinical exome
Exome promised the ability to provide answers to more patients, who were unable to find answers with traditional diagnostic approaches.
2013
Landmark Supreme Court Gene Patent Decision
Ambry was first to offer BRCA-related testing panels after the Supreme Court Gene patent decision. We celebrated the 10-year anniversary of this decision in 2023. Check out the what Ambry employees and industry experts remember about that time.
2016
Ambry opens SuperLab
Full of state-of-the-art technology, the 60,000+ square foot SuperLab was designed to include the best technology available to provide the fastest, most accurate results.
2019
First paired DNA/RNA testing for hereditary cancer
Ambry continues to explore how paired DNA and RNA can inform more patients in their healthcare journey.
2020
The Ambry CARE Program® debuted
This digital tool allows providers to offer proactive, patient-centric care at scale and is ideal for identifying more patients at risk of developing cancer due to hereditary factors.
2024
And Beyond!
Ambry continues to innovate
Stay tuned for important updates and announcements as we celebrate 25 years. We are still driven for our passion for science and for patients, and we look forward to what’s in store for the next 25 years.

As a genetic counselor, we need a reliable lab. We need a lab with a lot of experience. We need a lab with a good product. We need a lab with good customer service. And for patients, we want them to have a good billing process and easy ordering process.
— Kelly Minks, MS, CGC
With 25 years of innovation experience, Ambry has been a leading pioneer in genetic testing. But Ambry prioritizes more than performing testing. Since the launch of the Ambry CARE Program® in 2019, Ambry has also consistently helped to improve the delivery of genetic services.
